7. CUADERNO DE VIAJE HVAR {T. NOTEBOOK HVAR}

En el post de hoy os voy a enseñar una ciudad PRECIOSA. Hvar en Croacia ha sido una sorpresa.

1. In today´s post I´m coming with a BEAUTIFUL city. Hvar in Croatia has been a huge surprise.

Hvar, es la reina de las islas Dálmatas y ha sido famosa desde tiempos antiguos sobre todo debido a su posición estratégica, a una historia rica que dio lugar a numerosos monumentos naturales y culturales, además de su literatura.

1. Hvar in Croatia, is the queen of the Dalmatian islands, and has been famous since ancient times due to its strategic position, a particularly rich history giving rise to many cultural and natural monuments, and its literature.

Estilizada y montañosa, la isla Hvar cubre unos 300 kilómetros cuadrados fuera de la costa Croata. Un Puerto potente en el Adriático desde los siglos XII al XVIII. Hvar desarrolló un arsenal muy importante y un montón de fortificaciones que todavía hoy testifican aquellos días cuando la isla estaba en todo su apogeo.

1. Rangy and mountainous, Hvar Island covers some 300 square kilometres off the Coatrian coast. A powerful Adriatic port between the 12th and 18th centuries, Hvar developed a significant arsenal and erected fortificatiions which today bear witness to those days when the island was at its peak.

¿Pero sabéis que?, en temporada alta, vienen unas 20.000 personas al día a disfrutar de la ciudad de Hvar. Parece raro que puedan entrar en estas calles tan pequeñas, con estos palacios Góticos y esos suelos de mármol libres de todo tráfico, pero creerme, todos entramos.

1. Do you know what? Hvar Town is estimated to draw around 20.000 people a day in the high season. It´s odd that they can all fit in the small bay town, where 13th century walls surround beautifully ornamented Gothic palaces and traffic-free marble streets, but fit they do.

Los visitantes, paseamos por la plaza principal, exploramos la vista desde las callejuelas de piedra, nadamos en sus numerosas playas, pero la mayoría de los turistas vienen de fiesteo, Hvar se merece la reputación que tiene de ser uno de los puntos más fiesteros de Croacia.

1. We visitors wandered along the main square, explored the sights on the winding stone streets, swim at the numerous beaches, but most of all, tourist come to party. Hvar´s reputation as Croatia´s premier party town is well deserved.

Lo que hace que Hvar sea tan precioso es sus contrastes, la variedad de colores entre los verdes de las montañas, el azul cobalto de su mar y el color púrpura cuando los campos se llenan de flores de lavanda.

1. Yet what really makes this place so charming is the blend of colours between the green peaks of the mountains, the cobalt blue of the sea and the purple lavender in the fields.

Hicimos un recorrido a pié por la ciudad de Hvar. Curiosamente nunca me había pasado que no nos dejaron entrar en la Catedral hasta que no terminó la Misa. Desde el puerto hasta la Catedral, recorrimos la Plaza de St Stephen que con sus 4500 metros cuadrados, es una de las plazas antiguas más grandes en Dalmatia.

1. We hired a walking tour around the city of Hvar. It was funny because it had never occured to me that we weren´t allowed to go into the Cathedral until the Mass was over, Stretching from the harbour to the cathedral, we walked along the St. Stephen´s square that at 4500 sq metres, it´s one of the largest old squares in Dalmatia.

La Catedral de San Esteban. La Catedral barroca, fué construída entre los siglos XVI y XVII a la altura del Renacimiento Dalmata para reemplazar una que destruyeron los Turcos.

1. St. Stephen´s Catedral. This baroque cathedral was built in the 16th and 17th centuries at the height of the Dalmatian Renaissance to replace one destroyed by the Turks.

Si se tiene la oportunidad de andar desde la plaza hacia el norte, pasando por la puerta de la ciudad, Porta di datallo, hacia arriba por las escaleras hasta la parte vieja de la ciudad, donde se construyeron los palacios de los siglos XV y XVI, y donde se pueden disfrutar de los aromas de las plantas del Mediterráneo. Hablando de plantas, hay una que crece en las paredes de piedra de los edificios antiguos. No necesita agua, no necesita nada, crece sola, ¡nunca la había visto!. Es la planta de la alcaparra.

1. If you have the chance to walk from the square to the north, passing the main city gate of Porta di datallo, ascending the stair through the old part of the city in which there are palaces built in the 15th and 16th centuries, through small bends that give out the aromas of Mediterranean plants. By the way, speaking about plants, there is one that grows between the stones on the walls of those ancient buildings, I had never seen before. It doesn´t need water, it grows alone, its caper´s plant.

La ciudad de Hvar es una fusión única de la naturaleza lujosa del Mediterráneo, una gran cultura y herencia histórica junto con la presencia mundana de los turistas. La parte alta de las ciudades siempre deja ver lo mejor.

1. The city of Hvar is a unique fusion of luxurious Mediterranean nature, rich culural and historical heritage, and mundane, tourist present. The highest point in each city allows you to admire the best view.

Y vuelta. Por hoy ya hemos pateado lo suficiente y hemos intentado ver lo máximo posible durante nuestra visita a Hvar.

1. And back to the ship. We crammed in as much sightseeing as possible during our stay in Hvar.
