CUADERNOS DE VIAJE 10, VILLAPADIERNA {VILLAPADIERNA AND THE END }

23.08.2011

We´re in Villapadierna (León). It´s situated in the north of the province, at about 51kms from the capital. Most of the population left the village to go to bigger cities like León, and actually there are about 100 people living there during the winter. In the summer, that amount doubles, because many of those who left the village come back to spend their summer holidays.

They have two streets in the village. But they have many other things.

Una esquina restaurada en mi habitación.

A nice restored corner in my room, there are certain things with a lot of stories to tell.

Enough time to paint. My friend does when she´s not having a walk around or cycling. It´s the first time I see her pictures, she´s going to kill me.

Her paintings add some color to the walls of the house.

And the kitchen window from where they see everyone who passes by.

And like in Florence, I had a room with a view.

And when you go out, everybody stops and says hi. They invite you to their houses and you then in amazement, discover wonderful gardens full of wonderful corners.

I´ve always loved agas like this one, it´s similar to the one my dad had in the house where he was born.

Y las alacenas restauradas.

And the restored cupboards.

Y los colores del paisaje.

And the colors of the countryside.

And they have a castle that belongs to the Alba house.

At the moment, storks nest all over the castle so its functions are merely naturist.

Animals in this village don´t suffer from stress.

And the village, it´s very quiet and and remains calm, you can only hear the birds singing, no traffic, nobody is stuck in a traffic jam in here, nobody gets caught in the morning rush hour in here either.

It´s time for us to leave now. Instead of going straight away we´re going to make a couple of excursions more. We will stop at Riaño and then go through Picos de Europa. It will be 2 more hours but I think it´s worth seeing.

Paramos en Riaño primero para tomar algo.

We stoppet at Riaño first to have something to drink

Esto es maravilloso.

This is awesome.

We had something to drink in here and we said goodbye to our friends. We have 6 hours to arrive home.

Llegamos al punto más alto.

We got to the highest point.

Dejando Castilla-León detrás y entrando en Cantabria.

Leaving Castilla-León behind and entering Cantabria.

El paisaje es maravilloso. Según vamos bajando, es mejor.

The view is spectacular. As we go down it gets better.

Muchísimo mejor.

Much better.

Increiblemente mejor.

Obviously much much better.

Vamos hacia Picos de Europa.

On our way to Picos de Europa.

Sin palabras.

Without words.

And this has been my travel notebook. There are people who remembered and others who have never been in these places, these holidays have been great, no doubt!.

¡LISTO!

DONE!
